Ownership

The ownership mindset is about taking initiatives and always being response-able - ie; being able to respond (not react). When an Indigo-ite truly feel ownership of their work, they won't be afraid to make mistakes as they know this is a natural part of the learning curve.

  • A Constant source of motivation: Takes ownership of work (even if it is outside of defined scope or interest) which helps with motivation in the role, as it empowers to ask questions, develop ideas and gain feedback on efforts instead of waiting to receive answers from superiors/others.

  • Ensures alignment & Communicate to close loop: When taking ownership of work, good communication is always maintained with line-manager and all stake-holders and clarification is sought to align on projects / tasks. This helps to focus on work activities towards accomplishing self & teams goals

  • Positive workplace relationships: Because work ownership encourages accountability and communication with line-managers, peers and cross functional teams, it helps complete work while thinking of how it affects others and ensure alignment with superiors to learn more about their expectations.

  • Encourages career growth: Work ownership encourages to expand skill sets, take on additional responsibilities and pursue new job roles, which helps take proactive steps in career progression.

Growth Mindset is the belief that personal characteristics, specifically intellectual ability, are malleable and can be developed by investing time and effort.

  • Is Solution oriented: Approach a problem head-on. Don't be afraid to make mistakes as part of the process, and, instead, see problem as an opportunity to learn and develop.

  • Committed to continuous learning: People with Growth Mindset have a zest for self-improvement so read, listen to podcasts, work towards adding qualifications or attend industry events. Focus is on staying relevant and make learning a habit.

  • Comfortable stepping out of comfort zone: Exponential growth requires reframing and stepping beyond defined boundaries with confidence, zeal and proactivity. Have the self-belief to try a new role, or work on a new technology.

  • Stay inquisitive: Benchmark, bring outside-in perspective, question old ways of working to make way for pathbreaking innovation.

An integral part of sustainable working is to enjoy what you do and feel a sense of belonging to the community. Sharing a laugh, celebrating wins and losses, feeling safe in talking openly about failures creates an environment where nothing appears tough.

  • Recognize others: Thank generously, pat for a task well done, praise effort. Appreciate timely and explain the ‘why' to encourage desirable behaviours

  • Celebrate failure: Talk freely about what went wrong, what did you learn and how it became a part of your self-improvement journey; inspiring others to try.

  • Stay positive: There will be several moments in this exponential growth journey where disagreements, work related pressure/stress will be felt and cascaded. Staying calm, in control of emotions and having the courage to push back with sensitivity and wit will be required.

  • Try an act of kindness: On a typical work day, there may be little mind space and bandwidth to think about others but prioritize helping a new comer, mentor a junior, be a backup if someone needs substitution, make a difference.
